Paragliding in Bir Billing, Palampur

Bir Billing is a Paragliding destination in the heart of Himalaya’s near famous tourist destination Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. Bir Billing Hosted Paragliding World cup in 2015. This was “First Paragliding World Cup of India.”This event happened in the month of October from 24th to 31st, 2015.” During world cup 150 top ranked paragliding pilots of all over the world participating along with 500 free flying pilots. This is a great opportunity for many local paragliding pilots to show their skills to world.

Bir Billing provides the option of Paragliding, Trekking to Himachali tribal villages, Mountain Biking, Angling and Camping.Bir Billing is located 70 km. from Dharamshala. Billing is situated north of Bir at the distance of 14 km. on the way to the Thamsar Pass trek, which is leading to Bada Bhangal, tribal region of Himachal Pradesh. Bir is mainly a Buddhist town and houses a monastery and a Tibetan handicraft center.


Chamunda Devi Temple, Palampur

The Chamunda Devi Temple in Himachal Pradesh is located 10 km from our hotel. It stands on the banks of the famous Ban Ganga River, the temple is housed with extremely sacred idol of Chamunda Devi, and as such the idol is wrapped by a red cloth. The location of this sacred temple is also significant since it is believed to be the same spot where the Mata or the Maa Kali assassinated the demon kings Shumbh and Nisumbh. The two generals were namely Chanda and Munda. It is their name that gave Goddess Kali, a new name called Chamunda.

Earlier the temple was located at a remote place which was difficult to access. However, with the permission and will of Goddess Kali, a new temple could be built at the current location. Inside the temple of Chamunda Devi, it is accompanied by the images of Hanuman and Bhairo. There are inscription to be seen from the Devi Mahatmya, Ramayan and Mahabharata. The surroundings of the Chamunda Devi temple are considered just perfect for those who are interested to meditate and pray.


Baijnath Temple, Palampur

Baijnath Temple is a Nagara style hindu temple situated in a small town of Baijnath located in Kangra District, Himachal Pradesh, India, and was construction in 1204 A.D. by two local merchants named Ahuka and Manyuka. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva as Vaidyanath, 'the Lord of physicians'.

According to the inscriptions on the present day Baijnath temple structure, a temple of Lord Shiva had existed before construction of present day structure. The inner sanctum houses a Shiva lingam. Further images are carved in the walls and in niches on the exterior.


Tashi Jong Monastery, Palampur

Tashi Jong Buddhist Monastery is situated about 15kms from Palampur. The monastery is located in Tashi Jong village, which is a small rural area situated between Paprola and Taragarh. Home to the Drugpa Kagyu tradition of Buddhism, this monastery is one of the schools of Kagyu tradition established by 8th Khamtrul Rinpoche, Dongyu Nyima. The monastery complex houses the main temple, the stupa of Khamtrul Rinpoche, and the Yamantak Retreat Center which is restricted to the general public.

Designed by Khamtrul Rinpoche, the entire building is adorned with woodcarving, gilding and painting. Several manifestation of Buddha has also been placed in the monastery including the Buddha Shakyamuni. Apart from being a monastery, Tashi Jong is an excellent craft emporium, where Tibetan artifacts are available.


Palampur Tea Gardens

Tea gardens in Palampur cover a large area on the hillsides. Palampur was established by Dr. Jameson, who introduced tea plantation on the hill station. Amongst these gardens, a few are privately owned; some are called as "demonstration plots" that are managed by organizations such as the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research. Vast tea plantation estates can be seen on the road to Dharamshala that belongs to Palampur Co-operative Tea Factory.

The abundance of tea plantation has made Palampur the Tea Capital of North India. The lush plantation with the backdrop of gorgeous Dhauladhar Mountain Range adds to the beauty of Palampur.


Jakhni Mata Temple, Palampur

Dedicated to Devi Latti Jakhni, the Jakhni Mata Temple is situated at the topmost point of Chandpur Village in Kangra district. This holy shrine is situated about 7 kms from Bundla Mata Temple and 5 kms from Palampur. It's a steep climb up to the temple, so it is ideal to take a car instead of choosing to walk. However, physically fit people can try hiking up to the temple.

The temple is located at a vantage point, from where the view of the Dhauladhar range, the valley and the rural human settlements is simply spectacular.
